Christine and Mom spent a night with Arden at the hospital.  I went home to rest to trade early the next morning.  While I was gone, Christine and Mom found that Arden possesses some abilities:

  • strong oral latching like a suckerfish
  • explosive gas passing like a cow
  • insatiable appetite like a goldfish
  • sleeps through loud noises like a dog
  • good neck strength like a flamingo

I think they are all good problems to have.  It is my turn tonight to spend the night with Christine and Arden at the hospital.

Christine and I thank you for all the good wishes.  Good night.

Getting Ready for Surgery

On the way to the hospital this morning with Christine and Mom, I was getting hungry.  Running around doing last minute preparations, I had forgotten to eat breakfast.  I said to Christine, “I’m already thinking about what to have for lunch.”  San Ramon after all had one of my favorite Zachary’s Pizza well as Dogout (also known as hotdog heaven).

Christine replied in a miffed tone, “You aren’t worried at all.”  Christine had nothing to eat since midnight to prepare for the C-Section, and she also remembered how much of a frazzled mess of concern I was last time with Anders.

“I’ll go eat, but I’ll only have a little food.”  I answered diplomatically.   Chrsitine smiled.

Once I got to the hospital, settled in, and chatted with the nurses… my hunger entirely went away.  I got worried after all.

Thoughts as I wait for Arden

  • Anders is starting to get familiar with the toilet.  Whenever Christine says “Potty Training”, it sounds like “Party Training”.
  • I am really taking Arden for granted.  By this time with Anders, I was starting to be a nervous wreck.
  • It is such an ego boost when Anders whispers  “da da” with such innocent affection when he sees me in the morning.
  • Anders had such a shocked expression on his face when he somehow was able to twist open a vitamin pill bottle.  His first reaction was to show me that the cap came off.
  • Beware, local cops desperate for money.   Christine and other moms realized that cops were giving out $70 tickets for parking over a 2 hour limit outside of the city library.  A friend’s friend got a $400 ticket for not turning their wheels into the curb on an inclined street.  $300 ticket for dropping off kids at school in a non-designated area.  Red-light cameras are being installed in Berkeley, Oakland, Hayward, Fremont, Union City, Newark… what a growth industry.
  • Despite her pregnant condition and the discomforts that come from it, Christine is still agile and energetic.  I am in awe of Christine’s good spirits and can-do attitude.
