Anders Crawling

Filed under: Baby Anders, Fang Family, Pu Family, Random Thoughts — christine at 3:07 pm on Monday, July 28, 2008

Finally Anders started crawling last week when he officially entered 10 months old.  Chinese had an old saying that sitting at the 7th month, crawling at the 8th and teething at the 9th.  Anders’ crawling has been waited for a long time…  :)

8 Months Old - I sit well and “crawl” well too…

9 Months Old - I am making progress with lots of frustrations…

10 Months Old - Finally I can get to where I want to go… Now you can’t stop me!

Can You Believe This?!

Filed under: Home & Garden, Random Thoughts — christine at 5:21 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2008

Gosh, I still can’t believe this could have happened. Let me tell you the story.

Harrison was in San Diego with Paul for the Anime convention so I also took Anders and the nanny out for lunch and a walk in the mall.  Since I have to fit Anders’ stroller in the trunk, I took the new bedsheets sets I bought out from the car and left it at the front door thinking it’s safe here and I’ll also be back soon in a few hours.

By 5:00 pm, we arrived home but the front door became a little bit different…  Yeah, it’s too clean.  I suddenly realized that everything around the front door disappeared.  The things includes a foldable outdoor table rolled up in a green bag (kinda like Yoga mat bag), a Macy’s shopping bag with new bedsheets and two rolls of carpets left over from our installations.  They were all gone.  I thought we had a break-in and ran into the house to check on stuffs.  Nope!  Everything is fine.  I asked Qiang who was working downstairs if anyone came by.  He said that some gal knocked on the door and also walked around the house but he didn’t bother to check… Sigh!

For the whole time, I thought someone stole my stuffs but it’s sooooo weird… Why did she/he want junks like those?  I blamed myself by not putting things in place and was very upset about my new bedsheets.  However, there was nothing I can do.  I made sure that those were the only things missing then I started taking care of other house chores.

Then I went to check my missed calls and voice mails on my cell phone.  Someone from the post office left me a message that she came for package pickups but didn’t see any packges at the front door.  When I called back, it turned out that she took every single thing at the front door away to the post office since she didn’t see any “packages”.  Can you believe this?  They were absolutely not wrapped.  There were no shipping postage and labels.  The carpets were not even tied up.  And what made it worse was that when I called the gal who came by, her only answer to all my questions was “I don’t remember.”  It took her a long time to “remember” the things she “seemed” to take away when it only happened 3 hours ago.

I don’t know what to say.  Can someone be so stupid?  Or it’s just someone who didn’t take his/her job seriously.  People should have pride in what they do.

Family Get-Together with Nick and Peter

We used to be just three bachelors at a startup named Octopus Inc just seven years ago. Now we are three married men with a total of five children between us.

Nick, Peter, and I decided to get our growing families together for some fun play time, swapping baby stories and experiences, as well as enjoying a hearty dinner together in Hayward.  It was agreed by all involved that we have to do this again more often.

Maybe “hearty dinner” was an understatement. It was quite a feast.  This was our dinner menu:

  • Prime Rib slow baked at 325 degrees
  • Spinach dip bread bowl
  • Sauteed mushrooms
  • Baby carrot, pearl onion, and turnip vegetable medley
  • Mixed greens salad
  • 2 different cakes and a banana cream cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory

When I Want You To Hold Me…

Now that I grow older and smarter, I know how to trick Dad and Mom to hold me up…

(Pay attention to that face when he squeezed his eyebrows toward his nose and started crying…  That’s the face he always makes now when he wants something.  Look at this one, he was crying at this minute and laughing in the next minute.)

我現在會裝可憐了。哈哈哈!

Anders at Oakland Zoo

Filed under: Baby Anders, Fang Family, Hung Family, Pu Family, Random Thoughts — christine at 7:15 am on Saturday, July 19, 2008

Harrison had fun at building green houses yesterday and Anders also went to the zoo for the first time.

Friday is usually Anders’ play day and we always go to the “play and learn” class at Hayward library.  Since Harrison would be gone for Habitat of Humanity, he suggested us to go to the Oakland Zoo too.  It turned out to be a pretty nice day.

At the beginning, Anders didn’t seem to have much reaction when he saw the animals including the tiger, alligator, crane and otter.  Until we arrived at the site of patting the goats and sheep, he became so active - pointing at the directions he wanted to head to and kept yelling, jumping and twisting his body.  :)  When he finally reached the goat, other kids “patted” the goats but Anders “grabbed and pulled” their hairs….  What do you expect?  Of course they ran away from him and I have to chase after them…  Poor mom.

While I was wondering that the zoo is really really small and not so many animals, people pointed us to the other direction saying, “that IS the main zoo.”  Hehe…  I thought it is a small zoo but not THAT small…  Anders’ next favorite is the giraffe and all kinds of birds.  He yelled, talked, danced and jumped for a long time for them but he has absolutely no reaction towards the elephant.  Maybe it is too different from his “singing blue elephant” from.  Ha!

Anders was going through the second round of teething and normally woke up 3-5 times at nights.  He was exhausted and slept much better last night!
