Babysitter

dsc_3816-medium.jpgSince we lost our nanny, our work time has been very limited. I normally started working after Anders went to bed at night. During his nap time, I can barely finish up house chores. So Harrison suggested to hire a babysitter a few hours a day so we can get our work done during day time. That will release us from working late and not having enough sleep. Good suggestion.

So we found someone from www.babysitters.com. Her name is Megan, a blond 22-years-old young American girl. Her eyes are blue and sizes are a few number bigger than mine. In short, she is very different from whom Anders have met so far.

The first day was really bad. He cried for the whole time Megan was here. It was strange since Anders has had two other nannies since we lost our original one and he didn’t cry at all when we handed him over even on the first day. The second day was not much better either. Then I started realizing that maybe Anders was able to tell the differences between Chinese and American. It was amazing to find that babies in this young age could already tell the difference.

To help Anders get familiar with Megan, Harrison took a picture of them together, printed out a big poster, and hung it on the wall where Anders’ high chair was. Then I talked to Anders about Megan and pointed to the pictures whenever I fed him. It was three solid food feeding that day. It came to my surprise that only after one day, he would turn his head to the poster and smiled at the picture whenever I said, “Megan, where is Megan?”

I guess we can’t underestimate baby’s potentials! :)
