Going way too far right (errr I mean wrong)

Merely days after Al Gore has won the Nobel Peace Prize, the attack dogs of the far right are already nipping. Fox News gives airtime to somebody who claims that General Petraeus should have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sometimes I feel like the US has become Bizzaro World.

From Wikipedia:

In the Bizarro world of “Htrae” (”Earth” spelled backwards), society is ruled by the Bizarro Code which states “Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!”. In one episode, for example, a salesman is doing a brisk trade selling Bizarro bonds: “Guaranteed to lose money for you”. Later, the mayor appoints Bizarro #1 to investigate a crime, “Because you are stupider than the entire Bizarro police force put together”. This is intended and taken as a great compliment.

Better writeup and video here about Fox News and Al Gore at thinkprogress.org.

UPDATE 10/15 - Paul Krugman of NY Times writes about “Gore Derangement Syndrome” along these lines of my Bizarro World comment.

Nobel Peace Prize for General Petraeus??? kidding me. He’s a fighter. I just don’t know much about his background or care enough to find out. I only know his name through NPR during my commute to work. And through my listening, I’ve never heard of anything peaceful coming from him.
